Damascus Steel, or Damast Steel (as it is sometimes called), was created in the Mid-Asia around1100 and 1700AD.
The first use wasto make knives for battle.
Further studies revieled that it originated in China many years ago, about 300BC.
It was then brought as ingots (Steel blocks) to the middle east and hammered into blades.
The distinctiveness of the Damascus Steel in theweapons, made them so hard, that they would cut through the less advanced European metal blades used, making them precious.
Damascus Chef Knife.
Around the 17th century, the technique of forging the Damascus or Wootz Steel was lost.
Untill now the exact recipe of thecompunds for forging the Damast Ingots that were used for forging the metals is unknown.
Now the Damascus or Damast is used for blades with a visible grain pattern.
The steel alloy is of Steel, Cadmium,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Carbon and Iron (and other elements as Chromium and Vanadium and so forth...).
Many metals are with lines on the metal, these are etched on the blade instead ofbending the metal layering for their amazing Damascus chef knife features.
The Damascus chef knife is forged and folded and the steel is grinded and polished specifically to expose the layers of Iron in the Damascus chef knife.
Today manyDamascus Steel steels are used in damascus chef knives and Chef Knives,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and rings.
When you use a good forged Damascus chef knife to using a regular knife is unbelievable.
Whan you use a damascus chef knife the ease of your knife is much easier.
an explanation here when you use a damascus chef knife your work will be so much easier because of the sharpness and flexibily,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and edge retension which is much better than a regular knife.
